California Electric Vehicle Mandate

Governor Glenn Youngkin said the California electric vehicle mandate will end its compliance by the end of 2024. As soon as the current rules expire.

Attorney General Jason Miyares confirmed that from next year 2025, people of Virginia do not have to follow the rules of the California electric vehicle mandate

In the year 2021, the California Electric Vehicle Mandate was allowed to be adopted by the General Assembly of Virginia. It requires 35% of all new cars to be electric by 2026.

Governor Glenn Youngkin said Virginians are not obligated to follow the strict mandate, as violations could result in fines of up to $20,000 per car.
